We should have been packing but...

...we went to Monterey instead.  We actually have a good friend who is stationed in Monterey, so we went to see him before we leave the mainland.  While we were there, we took the boys to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  It is so beautiful, and we really enjoyed all of the exhibits, but I would recommend going on any day but Saturday.  The crowds were terrible, but we had a good time in spite of that.

These two pictures need an explanation.  We often pretend that animals are "getting us" when we are playing.  For example, the porcupine in one of our books always pokes us with his spikes.  We touch the spikes in the picture, say, "ouch!" and put our finger in our mouth to soothe the pain.  They also like to do this with dinosaur and shark teeth.  I don't know why Benjamin thought that this shrimp looked dangerous, but he went straight to it, touched the glass, said, "ouch!" an put his finger in his mouth.  It was too funny.

Joshua's Birthday

Here are a few pictures of Joshua blowing out the candles and opening his present.  He got a new scooter and a helmet.  Hopefully I will get some pictures of him riding it soon.

Friday was our last playgroup with our friends in California.  I am glad that Joshua was able to celebrate his birthday with his friends.  We went to Fairyland in Oakland which is an amusement park for young kids where everything is based on nursery rhymes and classic stories.

There were little blue boxes set up throughout the park, and the kids had keys that would turn on the boxes to tell stories.  I think that this was Joshua's favorite park.

Catching Up

I know that I have not posted in a while.  We have been so busy getting ready for the move that the blog had to go on the back burner.  Here are some pictures of what we have been doing besides packing.

The weather has been so nice this week that the boys have moved their chairs to the window and have eaten their meals while watching out the window.

Joshua's first time on roller skates.  He did really well!
